Down-to-Earth Folks Keeping You Up in the Sky
Hey there! Welcome to Smoky Mountain Aeroplanes — where fixing, flying, and fine-tuning planes is more than just a job… it’s what we live for.
We’re a small but mighty team based out of Morristown, Tennessee, dedicated to keeping your aircraft in tip-top shape. Whether you're flying for fun, business, or somewhere in between, we’ve got your back (and your wings).
Meet Brent Pressley,
Owner | Smoky Mountain Aeroplanes
I was raised in an airplane salvage yard in East Tennessee—literally grew up with wings and wrenches. By 14, I was elbow-deep in aircraft parts, learning the ropes the old-school way: hands-on, from the ground up.
Life took me away from aviation for a bit while I started a family, but planes have a way of pulling you back. Eventually, I found myself working for drag racing legend Connie Kalitta as a mechanic. That experience only fueled the fire, and in 1998, I went all in and started my own business. Been at it ever since.
Over the years, I’ve worked on everything from the common to the downright rare—including the first Meyers Aero Commander 200, the same model Peter Gluckman flew around the world. You name it, I’ve probably worked on it… or tracked it down in a field somewhere.
It’s just me and a small crew, but we punch way above our weight. Mooneys are kind of our thing, but we’ve got plenty of hands-on experience with Beechcraft, Cessna, Columbia, Piper, Maule, Bellanca, and whatever else rolls (or flies) into the hangar.
We don’t do flashy. We do solid work, honest answers, and we always stand by what we fix. If you’re looking for a shop that knows its stuff and doesn’t cut corners, welcome to Smoky Mountain Aeroplanes.
